Tesco Supporting Jobs in Belfast
« on: November 06, 2012, 08:32:24 AM »

Belfast received a much welcome boost to the jobs market when supermarket giant Tesco opened on the Castlereagh Road in east Belfast.

The move has created 90 new full and part time jobs and cost £24 million to create. The supermarket chain now has more than 50 stores across Northern Ireland.

The new store includes a Tesco Cafe, electrical, toys and clothing as well as fresh produce counters. It also features an in-store bakery and stocks a wide selection of local produce. This emphasis on supporting and promoting the relationship with local suppliers is a major focus for Tesco in Northern Ireland, through its Taste NI campaign.

The company said it intends to sell £1bn worth of locally-sourced products in its stores over the next two years. Complementing the wider ‘our time, our place’ celebrations taking place across Northern Ireland this year, the

Tesco Celebrate 2012 campaign comprises a variety of activities, which will bring local food to the fore, enabling customers sample and purchase local food, try food from artisan producers, and support local companies.

Tesco believe that supporting local producers in this way helps support the wider community and will help maintain a healthy jobs market in a variety of local companies.

Thats great! supporting the local job market, and serving the community at the same time.  Its brilliant, I love the fact that Tescos promise the jobs will be offered to the locals first, especially at a time when people are finding it hard to get a job locally

I've always liked Tesco cafes  :)

It's easy to just think that Tesco is for people stacking shelves and working on the checkouts, but if you're into food or have food and cookery qualifications, there's bound to be opportunities working in the kitchens as well.
