Tesco jobs in Consett, County Durham - New Store
« on: May 31, 2012, 11:47:21 PM »

A 60,000sqft store in Consett, County Durham that looked ready for development may be hanging in the balance. Tesco’s have moved to deny that this is the case, but those responsible for the development claim that Tesco’s have not yet made their mind up and will not do so until mid June.

Planning permission for the site was granted over two years ago yet nothing has currently taken place and this led to speculation that Tesco’s are not happy with the site. Project Genesis (the contractors for the store build) claims that Tesco’s already pulled out in March, but began to reconsider recently. They claim a final decision will be made on June 19th.

With the above in mind, Tesco’s have moved to quash these reports. They claim that the scheme will progress shortly and that there is nothing to worry about.

The store, which will bring in roughly 250 jobs, will be a huge boost to the local economy.
