If you are interested in becoming a social worker then you will have qualified as a social worker and be approved by the health authority and pass any background checks (DBS). As a qualified social worker you will be involved in children and families and work with these people in a non judgemental way and try to help them resolve any issues that they may be having.

Your future employer will be looking at your skills and attributes and to assess how confident you are at communicating. You will need to be able to provide advice and guidance to children and adults sometimes in very difficult circumstances and you will need to be able to gain their trust and build relationships with them so that it enables you be able to work with them.

Any employer will also be keen to understand your personality and see how you work under pressure in sometimes some very difficult situations that require mental strength and a great deal of patience and excellent listening skills.

If you have found a role you are looking to apply for, please see the below personal statement which can help you with your application or CV.

Social Work Personal Statement Example

I am a fully qualified Social Worker with experience in working with young children at risk and their families. I have been working as a Social Worker for (how many years) and I qualified from (what university and when).

I enjoy working with children and their families, even in exceptionally difficult circumstances. I have learnt to have a great deal of patience but to know when to react quickly in particularly difficult situations.

I am an excellent communicator and exceptionally hard working. I never leave a job undone and often work long and hard hours to ensure that as a social worker I make a difference to these people’s lives. I am keen to find a new role due to relocation and feel that I have a lot of transferable skills within social work.
