Engineering Personal Statement Example
« on: April 05, 2014, 07:14:33 PM »

If you are looking to be in an Engineering environment and wondering how best to describe your skills in your personal statement then you need to clarify what kind of Engineer you are, what degree courses you have done and what drove you to studying engineering.  You could be a Mechanical Engineer or an Electrical Engineer also.

Engineers will be technically minded, have a methodical way of working and be good at working hands on. You will have studied for a number of years and maybe even specialised in a particular area of interest of dependent on the company you work for or want to work for. You will need to have a keen interest in the Sciences and Maths and be able to problem solve.

If you are looking to write a personal statement to summarise your skills and experiences, please see the below example which you can use as a guide.

Engineering Personal Statement Example

I am a qualified Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from (what university and what grade and when). I am a technical minded person who enjoys the sciences and maths and enjoys working in hands on roles and have wanted to be in an Engineering role since a young age.

I pay great attention to detail in my work and enjoy researching and developing new products and testing them to be used and improving the processes. I think in a logical way and work methodically and I am able to work well in a team environment working together to ensure that we reach the same end goal.

I am honest and trustworthy; I am very dedicated to my career choice and to that of an employer. I am able to problem solve well and have excellent communication skills. I can present my findings and information to clients in a non technical manner to ensure they understand the detail.
