Do Temping Jobs Look Good on the CV?
« on: June 20, 2013, 12:23:12 PM »

If you have done a variety of different temping jobs will it look bad on the CV? If you have kept changing jobs every few weeks it may look like you have not been good at one job and moved on to another, even if this is not the case. Should they even be put on the CV?

If you have a long term temping job, then it would look good to put it on your CV. It would show that you were impressive as you had held the job for so long. If you have done a selection of short term jobs, then it could be better to list them in a batch. Perhaps put April-November 2012 - various temping jobs including working as a receptionist, administrator and filing clerk. This will give enough information without it looking as if you had too many different jobs.

Anything looks better than a gap in the CV, so if it's a choice of being a temp or being unemployed, then the temp should win every time. However if you have the chance of having a contracted full time job, this would look better, as it would show to employers that you have the ability to commit and stay in a role.
