Are temping jobs the best way to start?
« on: May 23, 2013, 09:39:08 AM »

I have always got jobs by temping in a company first, never had been successful at interviews. Does anyone else do this and do they think that this is a good way to start a job? Would it be better to work on interview technique and try to get jobs that way instead?

A temporary job can give essential work experience and is especially good for anyone who has not worked before or for a long time. Some will require job interviews and so they are not always a way to escape these. It can be worth considering why interviews do not seem to be successful as this could lead to a better job than temping all of the time.

If you want a job, you need to approach things from all angles. You need to be sure that:

- Your CV and application will stand out from others.
- You have experience.
- You know how to perform at interviews.

Once in roles, you need to perform to your best so that you get the best possible feedback in the future. Every little helps, and no one aspect will secure you a role.
