Bar Person Interview Questions and Useful Advice
« on: February 25, 2014, 01:02:23 PM »

If you are looking to get a job as a Bar Person and have got an interview then you need to assess whether you have done this kind of work before and research the role and the bar carefully.

Go through your CV in detail and assess whether you have the skills that they require for the bar person job. Have you just served drinks or have you done a mixture of food and drinks and is this something they would like, do they serve food etc?
A bar person interview will usually be a lot less formal than an office worker interview for example but nevertheless your interviewer will still be looking to see if you have the right skills and personality for the job.

You will need to have an outgoing personality who likes to talk to people and make them feel welcome. In this role you could be working some unsociable hours and dealing with some difficult people and circumstances at times so you need to be strong and able to deal with this.

Bar Person Interview Questions

During your interview you could be asked questions such as:
  • What do you enjoy about working in a bar?
  • How would your previous Manager describe your personality?
  • What hours or days are you looking to work?
  • Have you ever made cocktails (or something specific to that particular bar)?
  • Have you ever taken food orders or served food?
Depending on the business in question will depend on how your interviewer tailors your questions but ultimately they will be looking for you to have excellent customer service skills and be a real people person.  You will need to have a logical mind to be able to deal with a number of drinks orders at once ensuring that you put them into the till correctly and in an efficient manner as to not keep the customer waiting.

Good luck.
