If you have got an interview for an Air Traffic Controller then you will have undergone thorough training at a training centre and an airport and learnt and passed specific qualifications to be able to do this role.

To prepare for your interview, research the specifics that you have been given about the role and location of the role. Your interviewer or interview panel will be looking to make sure that you live in close proximity to the airport and that you can get there quickly should there be a need or an emergency situation where they need extra staff.

Your interview will be split up in to specifics about your training and what you have learnt from the training course and how you feel now you have qualified and are able to begin your career as an air traffic controller.  You will need to be able to demonstrate the skills that you have learnt and could be involved in some role play situations where your interviewer gets to assess how you would deal with specific situations that could and will happen in real life.

Air Traffic Controller Interview Questions

Your interviewer will also want to focus on your personality and nature and how you work with others and in an airport environment. You could be asked questions such as:
  • What motivates you?
  • Working in this environment, how much concentration do you think this role requires?
  • What is the most important part of your role?
  • How well do you work with others?
  • How motivated are you?
  • How important do you think accurate logs are and in what circumstances?
  • How important is communication in this role?
There will be other questions related to the specific area that you will be working in and around the team that you will be working with so it is very important to research well and ensure that you can fit into that team now that you have the right qualifications and have done your training.

Good luck.
