Popular IT operator roles
« on: May 14, 2012, 06:45:29 PM »

Hi,

I am currently a AS/400 operator but am likely to be made redundant this year. I am aware that AS/400 isn't as popular as it once was, I am being offered training by my existing employer and wonder was is a popular IT operator role to apply for.
I have UNIX skills also.

I'm assuming you've already solved this, but I would say it really depends on what skills you have and what you want to do.  As you were offered "retraining" by your employer i hope you accepted it (along with the redundancy!)
Linux is definatly good to have, I know a lot of companies that look for someone to have that on their CV
