Goldman Sachs was founded in 1869 and their headquarters is in New York. The Goldman Sachs group Inc is a leading global investment firm that provides a wide range of financial services to a substantial and diversified client base. They provide a range of investment banking, investment management and security services for their clients.

Goldman Sachs does the following:
  • Advise
  • Finance
  • Transact
  • Support
  • Manage
  • Invest
  • Innovate
People working at Goldman Sachs come from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds including finance, engineering, science, technology and humanities. Their people come from all over the world representing different nationalities, educational backgrounds and life experiences.

They like to ensure that their employees stay with them for a long and rewarding career therefore invest heavily in ongoing training and mentoring programs and reward their talent highly. They have even been recognised as a good employer and received an award for this which means that they create a positive working environment for their employees.

Goldman Sachs have recognised that through learning it gives them a competitive advantage and they are committed to helping their employees reach the peak of their capabilities and as such have created Goldman Sachs University to help their people grow professionally.

You can apply for positions online through their website and usually they will contact you for a pre interview on the phone before inviting you to the location where the role will be based and meeting relevant Managers and Team members.

From the moment you have accepted a position with Goldman Sachs your orientation begins with online resources before starting officially and communication with your new Managers etc, a very thorough practice indeed.

They have a very thorough induction program which doesn’t just end when you understand the company and the role, instead they continue working with their employees and integrating them into different areas of the business thus allowing for continued growth and a great personal development program.
