Store Manager Cover Letter Example for Job Applications
« on: November 15, 2011, 09:32:08 AM »

If you're interested in a Store Manager post then you'll be amongst many!  So it's wise to make sure that your CV and particularly covering letter really highlight your best acheivements and stand out from the rest so you're not rejected at the first hurdle.

As a Store Manager your responsibilities will include the running and commercial performance of the outlet and therefore most Store Manager positions for larger retail chains are recruited to attend the company's training programmes.  In this situation the interviewer is looking for potential over experience.

Dear [Name],

Store Manager Position at New Look

A strong background in retail management my proven record of obtaining results as an Assistant Manager are key elements in qualifying me for consideration as part of your team.

In my current role I have played a key role in establishing the store overseeing all merchandising, staffing and layout and over the past 4 years I have assisted the store in acheiving an 8% increase in sales year-on-year.

During my career I have established myself as a hard-working leader of the team and a recent appraisal highlighted my strengths as:
- Establishes excellent relationships with department heads and team members;
- Assists with training and development of new employees;
- Effective planner and organizer; and
- High regard for customer satisfaction.

I am looking for a new and exciting challenge and would be delighted to be considered for the Store Manager position at your New Look store in Birmingham.

Yours sincerely,

Or try this ...

Dear Ms Taylor,

I would like to apply for the position of store manager at Top Shop Bristol branch as advertised in Bristol Now Magazine.

I have worked in fashion retail for six years, most recently as a store manager. With my strong background in retail management, coupled with my love of fashion, I believe I have exactly what it takes to manage your Wells Terrace outlet.

During my time as retail manager at Debenhamís Department Store, I have successfully implemented new initiatives with stock and store layout that have enhanced the customer experience. I have worked on a number of hugely successful marketing and sales initiatives that have boosted profits by as much as thirty per cent in a quarter.

I am a dynamic team player with exemplary communication skills and I am always ready to think outside the box to make sure my store is a step ahead of the rest.

I pride myself on being a fashion-forward thinker who stays on top of the current trends in the industry. I believe my management experience, combined with my creative design skills and understanding of street fashion trends, make me the perfect candidate for this role.

I look forward to meeting with you to further discuss my application for this position.

Yours sincerely
