 Dear <Enter name of person receiving application>,

 I am sending you this covering letter and CV in regard to the position advertised in <enter where job was found>. With these documents, I would like to apply to the position of system administrator.

First, I would like to say that I have a vast experience in this role. In fact, I have worked in a role similar to this for the past <enter time here>. During this time, I became responsible for all the maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of the systems. This now means that I am competent with UNIX, Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems.

During my time at my previous role with <enter company name here> I worked <within a team/as the leader of a team>. I think that this is an important part of my development as an administrator because it shows that I can <work well within a team/can lead a team of people>.

Please take the time to read my resume, which I believe you will find more than suitable for this role. If you want to discuss my application, please call me on <enter a phone number>.

Yours Sincerely,

<Enter name >

or perhaps this .....

Dear Mrs Toms,

I am writing in response to the recent advertisement in the Liverpool Times, concerning the vacancy at Boxes Ltd for a Systems Administrator.

I am a highly dedicated individual, taking great pride in my work. Some of my key specialist services include UNIX, Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems. I have set-up and maintained some of the most complex company networks.

I have extremely high attention to detail, love the challenges involved in troubleshooting through a problem no matter how big or small and enjoy working as part of a team. These key talents are outlined in your job description.

I have over the years gained extensive experience in my field and I am confident in my abilities with both software and hardware issues.

Due to my understanding of the intricately woven elements in IT, I would be a valuable asset to your company. I believe that I am the right person for the job, someone who would be able to provide your company with heightened network solutions over a long-term period. I would like to be able to learn more about your company's needs and how I might be able to better address them.

I would welcome the opportunity to interview should my attached C.V prove to be of relevance.

Yours sincerely,
