Cover Letter for a Job Promotion Example
« on: August 20, 2014, 10:23:48 AM »

If you have seen internally a job that you are looking to go for as a promotion and after doing all your research you are putting your application together, then the next thing you need to do is to write a covering letter to your employers detailing your reasons for your application for this promotion and why you think that your skills and experience match for this promotion.

Begin by looking at your current job role and match this with the requirements of the promoted job role and see what areas you do not do now but that you have experience of and focus upon these in your letter as you will need to sell your skills and experiences to them to consider you for this promotion.

If you are ready to start to write your letter, please see the below example letter of what to cover in a promotion cover letter.

Job Promotion Example Cover Letter

Dear Sir/Madam,

Application for NAME OF ROLE and ANY JOB REF

Further to our recent conversation I would like to submit my application for the role of NAME OF POSITION.

As you are aware I have been working as NAME OF CURRENT ROLE for X years and I am now looking for a new challenge in my career and feel that this role is what I am looking for.
I thoroughly enjoy working for NAME OF COMPANY and I see that the future here is where I want to be, part of a very successful vision.

Having researched this role, I feel that the skills and experiences that I have gained throughout HOW MANY YEARS is very valuable to me doing a new role within the business. I appreciate that there will be a learning curve to any new role within the business but I am prepared to do this in order to continue a future career with COMPANY NAME.

Thank you for taking the time to consider my application for NAME OF POSITION. I would very much welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you in further detail.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

NAME SURNAME

The best thing that you can do if you're looking for a promotion is to make them sure that you're absolutely the right person who should be hired for the job in question. This is the only way to make them listen; they have to understand that they are doing themselves a favour by hiring you for the role that you have applied for. You only have one page to remind them about just how much benefit you have been to the business, so make sure you make the most of it.

With Quick-Reply you can write a post when viewing a topic without loading a new page. You can still use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post.
