Or try this:

Dear Mr Smith

My name is Julie Hopkins and I am interested in your current vacancy for a bar person advertised in your window.

Currently I’m working in a similar position serving customers in a fast paced, high pressure restaurant environment. I have a reputation for delivering excellent service to customers and ensuring their complete satisfaction at all times. I have had good feedback from customers about my happy to help attitude.

I am familiar with your bar and am aware of its excellent name and am also certain that I will fit in well with your existing team. I believe that my experience of customer relations, hospitality and my knowledge of food and beverages can greatly strengthen your business. I have had both Barista and cocktail training.

As you will see from my attached CV I have excellent communication skills and have previous and relevant experience of working in pubs, restaurants and cafes.

I would very much welcome a personal meeting with you to discuss your needs and my ability to meet them. My schedule is flexible and I am available for interview during the day, evening and at the weekend.

Thank you for your time, consideration and I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,
