Asda Application Form 2014
« on: April 02, 2014, 08:11:13 AM »

Company Overview: Asda has evolved over the past century from when Hindell’s Dairies was started in the 1920s. The name ‘Asda’ was the result of re-branding in 1965, and since then Asda has been serving millions of customers. They are now a market leader in the supermarket industry, aiming the pricing of their wares at people with low to medium budgets.

Asda also offer clothing and home ware ranges alongside their groceries in-store, and offer customers a range of buying options such as online shopping and delivery. Most recently Asda offers a ‘Click and collect’ service where customers can buy groceries online and collect them in store.

Asda are part of the global Walmart Group which is the biggest retailer in the world.

How to apply

At their website www.asda.jobs there is a link at the top of the page specifically for Graduates. Clicking on this brings you to some helpful information on working at Asda as a graduate. On the left hand side column, there are further links to their various types of graduate programmes such as the Fast Track Retail Graduate Programme and a ‘meet the people’ link so that you can get a feel for working there through other people’s experiences.

Going back to the main page, there is a scrolling bar at the bottom with different types of job areas for example working in-store. Clicking on each one will bring you to a summary of what you can expect from working at Asda in that type of position. If you like the sound of working there, there is a ‘Search and Apply’ button on the top right of the page. This brings you to a reminder about their ‘6 month rule’ where you must have 6 months’ experience in retail, and you can then continue your search at the bottom of the page. You will then need to register on the site for a list of all current vacancies.

Interview Advice

Asda values people who are open and honest so answer every question in this way at interview stage. They are a very customer focused company and want staff who listen to people’s concerns, so think about why customer service is important and give examples of where you have given great customer service previously.

Salary

If this isn’t indicated when you are searching and applying for positions, then come to the interview with your salary expectations in mind but let the interviewer bring up this topic first.

Benefits

The benefits of working at Asda include:
  • Competitive salaries
  • flexible working hours
  • A four week training programme at the start of employment
  • Various in store discounts
Good luck.
