Looking for a new career in retail in the New Year? Look no further, Asda is one of the leading UK supermarkets and can offer job hunters a variety of positions to suit a new career. Working for Asda really can suit people from all walks of life and backgrounds. From shop floor, to office positions, and everything in between such as Opticians, Pharmacists and Forecourt assistants, Sainsbury’s has as varied a range of careers as it has products.

Asda has a good reputation for its staff loyalty and career longevity. Backed up by its parent company Wal-Mart, undoubtedly the biggest retailer in the USA, this company can offer unrivalled job security and satisfaction. The roles available vary from shop floor positions, both in food retail and in the Asda Living home furnishing and clothing stores, to pharmacy roles, petrol station positions, and positions within their administrative, financial and head office sectors.

Asda are committed to ensuring that their staff are happy in their jobs, and offer a very generous staff discount, a contribution to your pension, share plans, legal advice and even give bonuses based on performance. They have a charming welcome scheme for new employees where you get to know your colleagues over a meal, and have a real welcome to the company.

The Asda recruitment site is at and contains all the information you need to find a job at Asda, as well as insightful testimonials from staff. They also tell you a lot on the site about what they are looking for in colleagues.

To find a job, visit the site and use the search option to find a position you are interested in. The first step in applying for these roles is to complete an online application. This consists of a form to capture all your details and ethos.

If you are successful at this stage, you will be invited into a store to attend an assessment centre called Asda Reality. During the day/evening you will take part in a series of activities - in pairs, in groups and on your own - as well as having an interview. This shows Asda how you get along in their stores and also shows you if the job is right for you. If they like what they see then the final stage is to be interviewed by a General Store Manager.
